from left to right: Benjamín Mac-Clure (GIZ, project member), Danilo Zurita (CNE, Head of Unit for Standardization and Regulation (Electricity)), Oscar Álamos (Ministry of Energy, department Electricity Market and Security), Javiera Méndez (CNE, vice Head of Legal Department), Rodrigo Espinoza (Head of SIC department Studies), Hernán Valenzuela (CNE, department for Electricity), Sebastian Ziegler (50Hertz, Senior Expert on Energy Market Development), Dr. Matthias Müller-Mienack (GridLab, Head of department Research & Studies), André Pasemann (ENERGIEQUELLE, Project Engineer of Business Development department), Patricio Valenzuela (Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional, Head of SING department System Operation), Hans-Peter Erbring (GridLab, CEO), Carla Tapia (ENERCON, Senior Sales Manager Latin America)

The workshop conducted in GridLab’s premises in Schoenefeld nearby Berlin on 2nd and 3rd of May 2017 was triggered by the establishment of a new ancillary services scheme in Chile in context of the new Chilean Transmission Law and by a respective GridLab study for the Chilean Regulatory Authority (CNE) end of 2016. The workshop was supported by senior experts of 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, ENERGIEQUELLE and ENERCON. Main scope was the presentation and discussion of the current handling of ancillary services in Germany, i.e. control power and beyond the challenge of frequency control, but also the stakeholder’s practical experience and the status quo of the dedicated market framework. Moreover, of special interest of discussion was the expected further development of ancillary services and respective market framework in context of ongoing decarbonization and decentralization of the German electricity sector.
